This video will show you how to fix the default gateway is unavailable in windows 8 / 8.1, this will involve adjusting default drivers on your system so please be careful.
Step 1: Press the windows key and go to device manager.
Step 2: Go into the network adapters folder and right click the network adaptor that you are using (not the Ethernet adapter the WIFI adaptor). Choose update driver software from the menu and press browse my computer for driver software.
Step 3: Now choose the option let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, in the next window uncheck the Show compatable hardware button and we should now have a list of available drivers on the system, you will need to select the driver that is closest to your original hardware but may be a different wireless frequency (A,B,N ect).
